James Lynah Rink

Located on central campus

Lynah Rink, which celebrates its 45th year of service to Cornell in 2001-02, is the home of Big Red hockey. The rink, which was dedicated April 6, 1957, was named in honor of the late James Lynah '05, director of athletics at Cornell from 1935-43.

The building has overall dimensions of 285 by 154 feet and is of concrete block construction with a laminated arch truss roof. There are no posts or other view-blocking obstructions inside and the ice surface measures 200x85.

In the summer of 2000, the University spent nearly $1 million in renovations to Lynah. The rink floor, drainage system, frost protection and refrigeration piping were all replaced, as well as the addition of new boards and seamless glass.
