PE 1100: Swimming, Introduction to
(Non Credit fee; $90.00) Instructor: Susan Ball

Introduction and practice in the basic skills necessary to pass the Cornell swimming proficiency test.This course is designed for the non-swimmer. Students will be instructed in proper technique of front and back floats, front crawl and elementary back stroke. Students will receive both shallow and
deep water instruction.
PE 1104: Swim, Conditioning

Attendance is Mandatory at all Classes - Teagle Hall Pool
Prerequisite: Reasonable Swimming Ability Introduction to and practice of different types of training methods. Final objective: 2500 yards in one class period. This is primarily a conditioning and not an instructional course.
PE 1130: Scuba, Open-Water

PADI Certification Course in Open Water SCUBA. All equipment is provided. Basic SCUBA program involves classroom discussion which will be held in the Teagle Classroom, skills training will be held in the Teagle Pool, and include lake sessions. Scheduled times are found on the Information Sheet.

Beginning level Instruction to Ballroom Dance. No previous dance experience required. No partner needed! Dances Taught include the Salsa, Merengue, Cha Cha, American Tango, Waltz, Fox Trot, Samba, Hustle. Great Music, Lots of fun. We rotate partners frequently throughout each class, a great way to meet people. if you sign up with a partner you are not required to rotate, except in our "mixer" dances. No previous dance experience required. Whether it's classic or modern swing, you'll learn to have lots of fun with a partner on the dance floor. Beginning Jitterbug, Jumpswing, Charleston, Jazz, and Lindy. No partner needed! We rotate partners frequently throughout each class: a great way to meet people. If you sign up with a partner, you are not required to rotate, except in our "mixer" dances. Shoes: white-soled sneakers with the treads worn smooth, or leather soles, or dance in socks. A good-energy class. Comfortable pace, personable instructors, plenty of review, and great music selections. All riding classes are held at the Cornell Equestrian Center located on Pine Tree Road near East Hill Plaza. Detailed information is offered by the equitation staff at the registration sign-up table. Basic: Never ridden; Intermediate I: completed basic with knowledge of walk/trot/canter; Intermediate II: walk/trot/canter with control over two-foot-high jumping course; Advanced: strong jumping/dressage skills with experience hunting/showing/eventing. PE 1335: Water Skiing

Introductory course for beginning water skiers. The class is conducted from East Shore Marina on Cayuga Lake. Skis, ropes and life vests are provided.
PE 1345: Boxing, Introduction to

One of the oldest forms of competition known, boxing has become the sport of choice for many people. Boxing's simplistic method has few techniques, yet the application of these techniques is the true art and science of the sport. Training will include shadow boxing, jump rope, two person drills, focus glove and heavy bag work. The course covers the basic skills of footwork, defensive, and offensive techniques. Skipping rope, shadow boxing, and heavy bag work are taught as methods for individual aerobic conditioning. Learn the fundamentals of one of the world's most popular sports: BOXING! PE 1412: Swedish Massage

You will master the basic strokes of Swedish Massage and learn about their application to the different parts of the body. Students will use oils and lotions as part of their training.
PE 1445: Tennis, Outdoor Beginning
(Non Credit fee; $85.00) Instructor: Michael Bryant T/R 4:30-6:00PM Appel Commons Courts, North Campus Instruction and practice in the basic skills of the game, including grip, serve, forehand, backhand, and volley. Scoring methods taught. All equipment is furnished.
PE 1480: Small-Boat Sailing, Introduction to

Prerequisite: Swimming proficiency test This course teaches the basic skills necessary to sail small boats safely and competitively. The Vanguard 420 sailboat is used. Transportation provided.
PE 1520: Archery, Introduction to
(Non Credit fee; $50.00) Instructor: Staff
T/R 5:00-6:30pm Bartels Hall, Ramin Room
Maximum of 20 students. Attendance at all classes is mandatory. This course teaches the basic steps of archery, care of the equipment, scoring, and shooting practice at 20, 25, 30, and 35 yards. All equipment furnished.
