Adventure Classes

Adventure classes are offered through a collaboration between the Wellness Program and Cornell Outdoor Education (COE).

  

Wilderness Walking

Tuesday&Thursdays, Begins Sept. 25

noon-1:30p.m., Bartels Hall (COE office)

Discover Cornell's backyard wilderness areas.  Go off pavement to explore gorges, creeks, woods, ridges, and ravines.  Wilderness walking, in which will travel cross country up and down hillsides, across creeks, and through the woods, is a great way to get a full body workout.  Discover local geology, fossils, animal signs, bird life, and secret "hot spots" with staff from Cornell Outdoor Education.  Learn wilderness navigation, the use of trekking poles, and backcountry safety. Leadership, transportation, and poles provided, all you need to bring is a small pack, sturdy footgear and a raincoat, a sack lunch, water bottle, and a readiness to have fun trying a cool new activity!  Limited enrollment to ensure quality experience. Session fee is $45. Register for a session by calling COE at 255-6183.

 

Wellness Rock Climbing
There has never been a better time to try rock climbing. Cornell has an amazing indoor climbing wall in Bartels Hall. The Lindseth climbing wall spans an entire side of Bartels Hall. Instructors will provide all of the gear and instruction required for you to learn how to climb. Class includes nine sessions, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-1:15 pm, starting on October 30. Session fee is $100. Register for a session by calling COE at 255-6183.

 

Wellness Winter Snowshoeing
Try snowshoeing with Cornell Outdoor Education and explore the wonders of the winter world. Snowshoeing is a great way to discover local secret winter “hot spots”. Snowshoes and poles, as well as transportation are provided. All you need to bring are boots, winter clothing, and a desire to have some fun. Class includes six sessions, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-1:30 pm, start date 1/29. Session fee $95. Bartels Hall (COE office). To register call 255-6183.
